So supplier week has finally ended. Last year it was only one day, but this year we decided to do a lot more and subsequently that means a lot more work for me!
For those of you that don't know what Supplier Week is, let me tell you. This week 250+ people from our suppliers ascended to Fort Collins from all over the world; China, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Canada and the US, for this week to join us in our Supplier Week. We invited about 76 suppliers. I have planned this whole week, down to the minute for this event. I had a huge budget, gifts, a fun day, dinners and a huge meeting to coordinate with all of these people. It went absolutely perfect, not one issue, surprise or problem. It could have not been any better. Here's how my week went:
Monday - 24 of our AE China counterparts came to Fort Collins for two weeks. When they all arrived on Monday at 8am I had to find places for them to "live" at the office. Thankfully (and not) there was a layoff a couple weeks ago so there were some cubes open for them, but not 24. After a few calls to IT and promises made, everyone got settled into their homes and started working (by about 10am). Monday was a lot of running around and picking up last minute things. Walmart thought I was pretty crazy when I went and got 15 cases of water, 4 cans of bug spray, 10 bottles of sunscreen and 10 packages of cookies! Oh well.
Tuesday - Fun Day - This year we decided to host a fun day with three choices the suppliers could pick from; Horseback riding, Hiking and Golf. 170 people participated in one of those 3 activities and all had a great time. The horseback riding and hiking was at the YMCA in Estes Park and was absolutely beautiful. Everyone really, really enjoyed it and said the food was amazing and the activities were great. They also go to go shop in Estes which was also a hit.
The golf was in Windsor (just south of Fort Collins) and went really well. I was at the golf tournament (I had a lot of big wigs there, VP's, CEO's and such) checking in everyone, taking pictures and driving the golf cart around. If only I had beer in there I would have been much, much richer than I am now.
Tuesday Night - We had a big drinks and light appetizers social event that about 200 people came to enjoy. It went from 6-10 and thankfully I got to leave about 8:45pm.
Wednesday – This was the longest day. I got to the Marriott Fort Collins, about 6:45am and have everything set up and ready to go at 7:30am for the continental breakfast with some help from the wonderful Chinese girls…they saved me again! The meeting started at 8:30am with about 7 speakers from Advanced Energy including a break (with food) and then lunch. The presentations went off great, no issues with the A/V and most of them were well received. The only issue was that the speakers spoke way to fast and actually we were ready about 45 minutes early and had to wait about 20 minutes for the food to get out. It actually turned out really good because that gave everyone more time to socialize, network and meet new people. Food was good again and I even got a awesome gift from my boss (picture is below!).
Wednesday Night – I took one of our suppliers out to CB & Potts and had dinner with them. There was 4 of us so it was a nice easy dinner and we had lots of fun. I got home about 8:30pm and was in bed no later than 10.
Thursday – I took Sydney to preschool (she absolutely loves it and is doing so well!) and then when Kyrah went down for her morning nap I took a nap and after lunch at nap time I took another nap. Needless to say I was exhausted and am finally feeling a little better.
So that is my week, in a nutshell. Things went really, really good. Everything was very well received and I got many compliments on the week (not to break my arm patting myself on the back – as Grandpa would say) but I did a really good job!
Here are some pictures of the week.

And the best part of the day, my boss gave me this Coach LapTop Bag for my hard work, it's so AWESOME!!!
